snow February 3, 2010

As many of you know, the snow forced us to cancel church this past Sunday (1.31.10).
Although we were sad to see it cancelled, we were glad that everyone was able to spend time with their families and friends out in the snow or cooped up inside by a fire sipping a hot cup of chocolate.
This week we are going to be starting back in our series, the Hearing Test, which is all about how we can hear from our heavenly Father. It is something that we all need to be reminded of at difficult times in our lives. And it is very beneficial for anyone just starting their journey toward God.
So invite your friends and come on out and join us for some good music and some good teaching that will stir us on to pursue Christ in all our adventures.
Also, we hope that everyone will be careful as the roads are wet and be cheerful because there might even be more snowy delight coming again this weekend.

Hey guys, this is Jason here.
I am just pumped about this past Sunday. We had our first service at 3 pm at Central Community Church which was so exciting.
I am just letting you know that as a hopeful benefit and bonus to you, each Tuesday I am going to give my recap of the service for those of you who either 1) could not make it out to the service or 2) to those who simply want a recap and possibly 3) for those who might have missed something. So here we go:
This week was the first in our series, the Hearing Test.
Set List:
Divine Romance – Phil Wickham
Wonderful Cross – Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, etc…
You are Holy – Elevation Worship
God of this City – Bluetree (or Tomlin)
Tim spoke about the Principle of the Path, which basically says that the path you are on, not your intentions, determines your destination. Many times we get caught up in all the things going on in our lives, yet God desires for us to not simply focus on what is immediate but ultimately on where our journey is truly taking us. Tim encouraged us to get on the right path by showing us the story of an adulterous woman seeking out men to devour in Proverbs 7.
If you want to find out more about this concept, read the Principle of the Path by Andy Stanley.

We’ve been talking about it for a long time, and we’re getting closer every day…on January 24 we’ll be meeting at 3:00 p.m. at 406 Prescott Street in Greensboro! This is both a time and location change for us, and we are SO excited about the new opportunities God has given us through these changes! Change is sometimes unexpected, challenging, and/or scary, but we know that God is so sovereign and in control that accepting the change He brings us to will result in what only He can bring about!
We are also very thankful for Central Community Church for letting us use their facilities at minimal cost; they are being an example of Christ’s love and LIVING OUT the unity of His people by sharing what they have with others. God is going to bless them for their generosity, and we hope that we’ll be able to give back to them in lots of different ways in the future!
Keep checking back here often; our staff are working on a lot of really exciting ways to do what God’s calling our church to do, and there will be lots of opportunities to take part in the process! God has placed so much potential in our church…He has chosen us to make an impact in our city…and He is already leading us into victory over the evils of the world!

For everyone that missed it, Ann Atwater, a civil rights activist from Durham who played a huge part in racial reconciliation during the time of the Ku Klux Klan, visited 24/7 two weeks ago and presented a documentary about her life and answered questions about forgiveness and the love of God, and we got to see the power of the gospel in real life…and it was AWESOME!
The love of God is so much more than “being nice”…it changes lives, impacts the world, and writes history.
Our sound system is currently being worked on, as it was causing Curry auditorium to sound like a Star Wars battle, but we’ve been worshiping God with all our hearts anyway and proclaiming with our hearts that nothing can keep us from making the name of Jesus famous!
Check back soon…we’ve got more updates, more stories, and more vision to share!

First: the college retreat turned out to be GREAT, even though all of our original plans got switched around because of weather! People were willing to make sacrifices and put in extra work so that we could still have a weekend to get away from the distractions of every-day life and focus on the goodness of God and the hope we have in Jesus.
This next week, we will be having a meeting open to anyone who is a part of 24/7 to come and ask any and all questions you might have about the changes that have been going on in the church recently. We understand that lots of things might seem like they’re undergoing change, and that not a whole lot of details have been communicated, and we want to give YOU the opportunity to know exactly what we’re doing and where we’re planning on going as a church. So plan on a slightly shorter service, and a totally open, completely honest time of everybody getting on the same page…we believe that unity as a body is vital to the body’s health and progress, so we hope to see you there!
